Community Trust FAQs

Thinking of applying for support? Find answers to some of the most common questions about The Cope Community Trust application process.

Local community, voluntary, charitable, sporting and educational organisations may apply, subject to the Trust's current priorities and the funds available.

Applications can request financial support, vouchers, goods, prizes or other forms of support.

The application should clearly explain what support is required and how it will be used.

Include enough information for the Trustees to understand your organisation, what you are requesting, what the support will be used for and who will benefit.

You should also provide the overall project or activity cost and details of any fundraising, grants, donations or other funding you have applied for or received.

Where applicable, please include your constitution or governing rules, recent accounts or an income and expenditure summary, and relevant quotations or estimates supporting your request.

Applications are considered by the Trustees of The Cope Community Trust.

An application may be approved, declined, deferred or partially funded. The Trustees may also attach reasonable conditions to an award. Completing an application does not automatically create an entitlement to funding.

No. Any support awarded by the Trust must be used for the purpose for which it was approved.

If circumstances change or the project does not proceed, you should contact The Cope Community Trust. Unused or misapplied funds may be required to be returned.

The Trust may ask for quotations, receipts, invoices, project updates or other reasonable evidence relating to an application or award.

The Trust may also carry out reasonable verification, including a proportionate audit or site visit where appropriate.

Applicants will be contacted after the relevant Community Trust meeting once a decision has been finalised.

The timing can vary depending on meeting dates and whether the Trustees require any additional information.

Completed applications can be submitted to: The Cope Community Trust, c/o The Cope, Main Street, Dungloe, Co. Donegal.
